Full transparency about our architecture and responsibilities.
Warning: This software is an experimental research project. By using it, you accept the conditions below.
1. Preamble and Project Nature
The Meteor application is experimental software developed in a strictly academic and educational context. It is a research project on decentralized communication architectures. The software is provided "as is", without any guarantee of maintenance, sustainability, or service level.
2. Technical Architecture and Neutrality
Meteor relies on a complete Peer-to-Peer (P2P) architecture and uses end-to-end encryption (E2EE) by default. Consequently:
- No central server: Meteor's creators do not own, host, or manage any data servers. No user data (messages, metadata, IP addresses) passes through infrastructure controlled by the development team.
- Impossibility of moderation: Due to the technical design of the WebRTC protocol and encryption, the development team has no technical means to access, read, decrypt, censor, or moderate communications exchanged via the software.
- Developers' role: The team acts exclusively as a software provider (publisher) and not as a content host.
3. User Responsibility
The user is solely and uniquely responsible for their use of the Meteor application.
- Content: The user assumes full civil and criminal responsibility for all content (text, files, video streams) they send or transmit via the application.
- Legal compliance: The user undertakes to comply with the laws and regulations in force in their country of residence. It is strictly prohibited to use Meteor for illegal purposes, including but not limited to: glorification of terrorism, child pornography, trafficking of illicit substances, harassment, or copyright infringement.
4. Disclaimer of Responsibility
The Meteor development team formally disclaims all responsibility regarding:
- Direct or indirect damages resulting from the use or inability to use the software.
- Data interception caused by security flaws in the user's system or third-party networks used (Clear Web or Dark Net).
- Actions taken by users via the platform.
Installation and use of the Meteor software constitutes full and complete acceptance of this disclaimer.
